Having installed custom themes into my wordpress blogs, I hate it when a wordpress upgrade "upsets" the theme and other customisations.

My little tip is to revert to the default wordpress theme before clicking an upgrade button; install the upgrade and then switch on the customised theme again.

I tried doing this with bans/wordpress sites after I had stuffed up custom menus. It's saved me endless hours of reconfiguring sites.

As for having your site show up in the adsense blocks on other peoples sites then yeah this will cost YOU when people click on it. Think its the same as pay per click, where as you pay for certain keywords, so if you sell golf clubs and your keyword is golf clubs, then your advert will show up on sites with similar content and if somebody clicks it to goto your site then you pay google.
